Chef team cooks up virtual storm  - Macphie

Macphie’s chef team hosted its first virtual cook-off as the food industry fires up again.

As the world embraces online meeting spaces, in lieu of face-to-face catch-ups, chef David Bittlestone led customers through seven recipes from hundreds of miles away.

Ingredients and step-by-step guides were sent out to each dinner guest ahead of the live cook off which was carried out through video call

On the menu was Turkish pizza made using Macphie’s Complete Bread Mix and Plant-based White Sauce, along with nacho mac ‘n’ cheese made with ready-to-use Nacho Cheese Sauce

Next up was pork steak with braised mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes topped with Macphie’s Red Wine Sauce. And for dessert – panna cotta with summer berries, vegan chocolate Oreo cakes and cinnamon pancakes, featuring some of Macphie’s sweet dessert and sauce ranges.

Macphie’s commercial director Warren Wells said: “The last few months has inspired us to do things differently and our chefs are embracing new ways of supporting our customers.

“While we continue to face restrictions on travel or face-to-face meetings, we’re here to help the hospitality industry get back up and running again, whether that’s with new menu development, recipe inspiration or market insight.

“Our first virtual cook-off went down incredibly well and provided a truly unique experience for our customers. Not only were they able to enjoy their cooking efforts, but their families were too.

“Each family enjoyed a feast of dishes all made using a small number of our core products.”
