Fipronil in eggs – statement from Macphie

Following concerns raised in the Netherlands about a substance called Fipronil which has been used inappropriately in cleaning products on chicken farms, it has been identified that a very small number of eggs have been distributed to the UK from the farms affected.

We can confirm that, as the situation stands, no products manufactured or supplied by Macphie have been sourced from the affected areas detailed in the RASFF notification 2017.1065.

We have conducted an investigation throughout our supply chain and have received confirmation from all of our egg suppliers that they are not implicated in this notification.

Our suppliers have agreed that henceforth they will include testing for this substance within their current testing regime.

More information is available on the Food Standards Agency website, or you can contact our quality standards department with any related enquiries.
