Food for thought in Dubai - Macphie

Macphie joined over 5,000 suppliers from 120 countries at Gulfood in Dubai last week – the world’s largest food and drink exhibition.

The event took place in the Dubai World Trade Centre and 95,000 visitors passed through its doors over a five-day period.

As well as connecting with potential new customers, it provided the company with an opportunity to catch up with existing customers and international distributors who sell Macphie products overseas. Head baker Alan Leith was on hand to show how to use some of the Macphie products.

Managing director Andy Underwood was part of the Macphie party who attended the event. “Gulfood is a key event in the international food and drink industry calendar so it’s important for us to be involved,” he said.

“Having done business in the Middle East for over 30 years, this event was a great opportunity to maintain and develop relationships with existing customers and end users, as well provide a platform to showcase some of our great products and manufacturing capabilities to potential new customers.”

Macphie was one several companies on the Scottish pavilion hosted by Scottish Development International, on behalf of Scotland Food & Drink. The pavilion showcased a range of internationally recognised goods and produce exported around the world by Scottish manufacturers.

It was one of Scotland’s largest commitments to Gulfood to date and reflects the growing importance of the Middle East market to the Scottish food and drink industry.
