Macphie and JG Ross light up the Illuminator Run - Macphie

Macphie joined forces last month with bakers JG Ross to supply baked goods for over 500 hardy runners taking part in the Illuminator Run – dubbed Scotland’s toughest night half marathon.

The run, which set off and finished in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, weaved its way through 15 miles of demanding hill trails of Glen Tanar’s ancient Scot’s pine forest.

The runners and walkers received a welcome boost during the run as they were treated to yum yums, muffins and flapjacks, and there was plenty left over at the end to greet the hungry runners along with a hot tea or coffee.

Jonathan Buckland, director at Firetrail Events was delighted with the Macphie and JG Ross collaboration for the inaugural Illuminator, he said: “The event was an overwhelming success and was in part due to the fantastic fresh baked goods available to all participants at the half way point and also at the end of the race.

“Participants’ eyes lit up when they saw a fine spread of yum yums, flapjacks and muffins, the ideal food for a grueling 15-mile journey over 680 metres of steep, wet and loose terrain.

“The organisation and supply of high quality ingredients by Macphie combined with the baking and delivery of the goods from JG Ross was seamless and highly professional which is critical to the smooth running of such an event. The products and service are the perfect match for this type of event and we very much look forward to working with both Macphie and JG Ross in the future”.
