Macphie makes non-hydrogenated dairy cream alternative breakthrough
Macphie, the UK’s leading independent food ingredients manufacturer, today announces the launch of a new generation of non-hydrogenated dairy cream alternatives. This includes non-hydrogenated formulations of its market leading brands - Mactop®, Mactop® Extra, GlenDelight® and Foodservice GlenDelight®.
Macphie is a dairy cream alternative pioneer. In 1976 GlenDelight was launched and it became the company’s fastest ever million pound brand. This led to the development of the first dairy cream alternative in a Tetra Pak® and this was followed by bag-in-box technology. Macphie revolutionised the market with the launch of Mactop® Extra - the only dairy cream alternative that can safely be stored in ambient conditions for up to five days and doesn’t require refrigeration, even after whipping.
Dr Neil Carr, Macphie product development manager said: “Hydrogenated fat has increasingly been hitting the headlines. At Macphie we are passionate about offering consumers healthier choices, however, we will not compromise on the taste, quality or functionality of our products. Over the past two years, our development team has been tackling the issue of removing hydrogenated fat from our branded food ingredients, and the cream alternatives were the most challenging. This launch marks a significant scientific break-through and one that we believe our customers and consumers will welcome.”
Deliciously rich and creamy, the non-hydrogenated dairy cream alternatives are suitable for a variety of sweet and savoury applications. Now bakers, chefs and food manufacturers can develop “better-for-you” desserts, confectionery, sauces and ready meals that will appeal to health-conscious consumers.
They offer many advantages over dairy cream, including higher whipped volume, more versatility and they contain less than half the fat of dairy cream, once whipped. They are extremely convenient with an unopened ambient shelf life of 6 months. Available in 12 x 1 litre and 10 litre packs.
