Macphie recognised as global changemaker - Macphie

Macphie has been named one of the world’s top changemakers this month as B Corporation reveals its top 100 Best for the World honouree lists.

The accolade recognises businesses making positive change and is awarded by BCorporation of which Macphie has been a member since 2015.

Certified B Corporations are in business for good – acting in a way that doesn’t just operate to make money. They do their best to support the people and places around them.

Kate Sandle at BCorp said: “Every year, B Lab recognises its top-performing members around the world.

Sustainable

“Separate lists honour companies that have made the greatest improvement.

“Best For The World status is recognition of your leadership in the movement of people using business as a force for good and we want to celebrate it.”

The B Corporation certification process reviews how businesses measure more than just financial targets, covering everything from renewable energy use, sustainable sourcing and how they take care of its employees.

The high score Macphie achieved in its latest assessment puts us in the top 10% of all B Corp members.

The BCorp assessment team said: “We congratulate Macphie on its efforts to redesign traditional manufacturing and embrace sustainable manufacturing processes, using not only onsite wind and wood chip renewable energy, but also having installed a heath recycling and onsite water treatment plant.

“Through these practices, the company reduces its environmental footprint, and contributed to environmental preservation and the conservation of natural resources.”

Award

This news follows Macphie winning Pizza Hut’s first Sustainable Supplier of the Year award last month.

The award was judged by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) and awarded at Pizza Hut’s annual supplier conference in central London on 9 September.

National Account Manager Martyn Hamilton and Food Applications Executive David Bittlestone were there to accept the award.

Commercial Director Warren Wells said, “We’re delighted to win this award and it’s great to see sustainability securing its place on the agenda.

“Every day, our employees are working to produce products used by chefs and bakers around the world. This doesn’t happen in isolation and we recognise the impact our business has on the people and places around us.

“From reviewing our use of plastic to engaging with the future workforce, we take a long-term view to sustainability and it’s great to be recognised for our efforts.”
