Macphie wins place on league table of Britain’s fastest-growing international sales stars - Macphie

For the first time, Macphie has featured in the annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table.

Published at the weekend, the ninth annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

Sitting at 90th place, it shows Macphie’s annual international sales have grown by 52% over two years, with international sales of £13.6million from a total of £53.9million as reported at the end of the 2017 fiscal year.

Growth

Of the 200 companies, the 10 that are headquartered in Scotland (compared to nine last year) have grown their international sales by an average of 55% a year over the last two years to a total of £973million, and together they now employ more than 19,300 people.

Some of the Scottish firms featuring alongside Macphie include Brewdog (at 129), EnerMech (133) and Baxters (172).

The companies in Scotland appear with businesses from around Britain, including sports car maker Aston Martin, fashion retailer White Stuff, appliance manufacturer Gtech, and coffee house chain Caffè Nero. Past stars range from drinks maker Fever-Tree to high-street optician Specsavers.

Brexit

The league table shows the resilience of Britain’s mid-market exporters.

Despite the uncertainty created by the ongoing Brexit negotiations, their international sales have grown by an average of 62% a year over the last two years to a total of £10.1billion, the highest growth rate since 2013.

It is sponsored by HSBC and DHL Express, and compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events firm.
