Macphie news | Manufacturing accolade from Scottish Bakers

It was a weekend of triumph as Macphie was shortlisted for Manufacturer of the Year at the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.

Scottish bakers have been voting for the top national manufacturer since March and Macphie made it to the top three, with DMD Ltd eventually lifting the title.

The awards ceremony took place at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow as part of the annual two-day Scottish Bakers Conference on 5-6 May.

With Macphie sponsoring the Retail Craft Baker of the Year category, Managing Director Andy Underwood chaired the judging panel and was on hand to present this award to MacLeans Highland Bakery.

Andy commented, “It was a great conference, topped with another great achievement for the team.

“The Manufacturer of the Year Award is recognition of the work we do for our customers as it’s voted on by the people who are buying and using our products.

“The evening was also a great success for a number of our customers with Reids of Caithness winning Scottish Baker of the Year and many others winning individual product categories.

“We strongly believe that these results are recognition of the dedication and hard work our employees put in to produce high quality products and customer service.”

Macphie is a long-standing supporter of the event and Head Baker Alan Leith was amongst a number of bakery experts who judged the Scottish Baker of the Year product awards earlier in the year.

Alan said, “The event was attended by over 300 visitors and we took the opportunity to present our new reduced sugar range which was very well received. Our stand was always busy and we had the chance to catch up with other suppliers, competitors and leading industry figures.”
