Macphie can trace its origins back to the 1920s, starting out as a small family wholesale business based in Glasgow. The company was transformed into a major manufacturing force by the dynamic vision of Stewart Macphie when he took over the company in 1954, with a major development being the relocation of the business to its present head-quarters in Glenbervie, rural Aberdeenshire in 1973.

The Macphie family have been farming in the Glenbervie area for over 700 years and is famed for its pedigree Aberdeen Angus herd and prime malting barley. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Alastair Macphie, the third generation of his family to lead the company, Macphie has expanded its business to become the UK's leading family-owned food ingredients manufacturer. Core businesses are the bakery, food service and food manufacturing sectors.

With sales of £39.5m, Macphie is a dynamic, innovative company competing against some of the industry's global giants both in the UK and Internationally. Macphie's head-quarters are located in Glenbervie, 20 miles south of Aberdeen. Operations are divided between two sites: at Glenbervie and at Tannochside near Glasgow. Macphie employs 300 people between the two sites. Additionally, there is a Macphie subsidiary - GAA (Glenbervie Aberdeen Angus) which is a partnership between Macphie and A K Stoddart, an Edinburgh based meat processor supplying top quality beef and added-value meat products.
