Macphie bread is toast of ‘Food Industry Oscars’ - Macphie

Macphie has won the Small Breads and Rolls category at the prestigious Quality Food and Drink Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night for their Tesco Whole Seed Cob. The awards, which were attended by over 400 leading figures from the food industry, attracted almost 1000 entries across 80 categories.

Macphie managing director Andy Underwood was thrilled at the award: “This is a fantastic achievement for Macphie which underlines our commitment to developing high quality products that are setting the standard across the food industry.

“It’s also a brilliant example of the great team spirit and the cross-departmental cooperation we have at Macphie, which has enabled us to all pull together and produce such an excellent product. This recognition by the industry is very well deserved and I’m extremely proud of everyone involved”.

Judges praised the Macphie product saying: “It has a lovely fresh aroma and visual appeal. It’s a good looking loaf with visible, well distributed seeds and it holds its structure well. It’s impressive that Macphie have achieved such a tasty bread within salt guidelines”.

The ‘Q Awards’ are highly respected as one of the most prestigious in the industry with the judging panel consisting of 150 experts including chefs, food photographers, food writers and food technologists, who look at every aspect of a product including great flavours and high quality ingredients.
