Get a taste of the real world with a work placement

Every year we offer six month work placements to second/third year university students. These placements give you a very useful, educative insight into the food industry and a valuable opportunity to put into enhance your academic pursuits. You'll be involved in exciting projects with some of the most talented people at Macphie. You will learn from the best while working in a fun, caring and creative working environment.

Previous placements students include food technology students who have worked in our Development department as Food Technologists. They worked on a number of projects for both Branded and Customised products and developed a good understanding of the cross departmental teamwork, which drives so many projects at Macphie.

Other placement students have joined the Marketing team and gained invaluable experience of the marketing mix within a commercial environment. The students were fully immersed in a Marketing variety of marketing initiatives from identifying market trends and translating these into marketable products, organising wholesaler promotions and developing public relations and advertising campaigns.

As part of their course requirement students are subject to ongoing assessment by industrial andacademic mentors, and have to maintain daily work experience logs, prepare reports and deliver presentations about aspects of their work at Macphie.

Past placement students have spoken of the valuable work experience they have gained and their real and very positive insight into the food industry.
