We’re proud to announce that Nadine Fisher (HNC Bakery) and David Turner (HND Professional Cookery) from City of Glasgow College have been named the latest recipients of the Macphie Scholarship.
Now in its second year, the scholarship has grown from its original focus on bakery students to also include those studying professional cookery – reflecting our commitment to nurturing talent across the broader food and drink industry.
Following an open call for applications, eight students submitted their interest before being shortlisted for interviews with our very own Fraser Hogg, former company director and current member of our Employee Trust. Each candidate was tasked with researching Macphie and sharing how the scholarship would support their future goals. Nadine and David impressed with their insight, professionalism, and clear passion for their chosen careers.
Both students joined us at Glenbervie in June for a week of hands-on work experience with our Business Development Bakers, Adam Storey and Tom Hunter. They also each received a £550 bursary to support and enhance their learning experience while at college.
This partnership is part of our ongoing investment in the next generation of food industry professionals, and a fantastic example of the value created through industry collaboration.
