£25,000 donated to Scottish mental health charity - Macphie

Macphie has raised £25,000 to a Scottish mental health charity.

The 280-strong workforce has been fundraising for the SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) since 2018 and is delighted to donate the final total during these challenging times, as the need for mental health support is more important than ever.

As well as tackling muddy obstacle courses, running marathons and selling crafty creations to raise funds, Macphie hosted lunch and learn sessions with a cross-section of employees to help raise awareness of mental health and the support available.

Macphie’s Chairman Alastair Macphie said: “Raising awareness of mental health has been high on our agenda for a while now but amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and a nationwide lockdown, looking after our wellbeing is more important than ever.”

“As we all do our best to look after our physical health, this ongoing crisis can take its toll on our mental health.

“It’s a worrying time and SAMH delivers some brilliant services that provide support and advice as we all get through this together.

“There are around 130 SAMH staff currently working on the front line, continuing to deliver vital face-to-face support for vulnerable adults across the country and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they’re doing.”

Corporate partnerships manager Fiona Lewis said: “It has been a privilege working in partnership with Macphie. The staff team have been vital in making our partnership a success and we cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication in raising vital awareness and funds for the mental health cause.

“Many of us are feeling worried or stressed about how coronavirus could affect our lives, as well as our loved ones. There are ways we can protect our mental wellbeing and connect with others. SAMH has created a dedicated hub of information and guidance on our website about looking after mental health as the coronavirus developments continue.”

“The money raised by Macphie will help SAMH continue our work to help provide support to people who need it the most. All mental health services can be life changing for someone experiencing poor mental health, so we thank Macphie for allowing us to help transform lives in Scotland.”
