To reduce the amount of plastic used in our processes, we’re changing the bottles we use to package one of our key product lines.
Instead of our ku-li® bottles being fully sleeved by plastic wrapping, we are moving to a larger bottle (450g instead of the current 300g) which will be labelled front and back. This means that once empty, the fruit coulis bottles can be easily recycled without removing outer packaging. The new labels will also feature clear recycling guidance from OPRL (rinse bottle and cap and recycle) to guarantee all users know how to recycle appropriately.
These changes impact our ku-li® Mango fruit coulis and ku-li® Raspberry fruit coulis and will reduce our use of plastic by 320kg each year alone.
Strategy, Sustainability and People Director Ed Widdowson said: “As a certified B Corp, we’re committed to creating a positive impact on the world around us.
“Every small step we take to reduce waste and cut our carbon footprint is a positive for the planet and I’m delighted we’ve identified a new opportunity to lower our use of plastic.
“Our fruit coulis are incredibly popular with foodservice and bakery customers because of their vibrant flavours and versatility. With everyone looking for ways to increase recyclability and cut back on the use of plastic in their kitchens and bakeries, I’m sure this will be a welcome update”
This news comes as we prepare to celebrate our 10th year as a certified B Corp next year following our fourth successful certification process earlier this year.
