Plant-based product shortlisted for industry award - Macphie

Macphie’s Plant-based Cream Alternative has been shortlisted in the Plant-based category of the 2021 Supplier Awards.

The awards – organised by The Caterer – recognise excellence and innovation in food, drink, and equipment within the hospitality sector. Judging took place at Westminster Kingsway College, and at The Caterer’s offices in London with a team of industry chefs, consultants, and senior college lecturers.

Also shortlisted in the plant-based category are;

  • Bidfood, Everyday Favourites Vegan Pasty
  • Gold&Green, Protein Flakes
  • Lamb Weston, The Dukes of Chippingdom, Proper British Chips
  • Quorn, Vegan Buttermilk Style Chicken Burger

Macphie launched its Plant-based Cream Alternative earlier this year, adding to its range of plant-based sauces which includes a Plant-based Cheese Sauce, Plant-based White Sauce, Plant-based Demi-Glace and a Plant-based Glaze. Available in 12 x 1litre cartons, it is vegan certified and can be stored at ambient temperatures.

Macphie’s insights and marketing manager Kirsty Matthews said: “To see our Plant-based Cream Alternative shortlisted for a supplier award is a huge accolade for the team at Macphie.

“Sometimes food trends come and go within months, but other times they create a fundamental change in how we live. We believe that a diet free from animal derivatives is part of a long-term shift in society. With over half the UK population adopting vegan-buying behaviours, it’s vital to understand their needs and support our customers with not only products that cater to current trends, but with insight and inspiration on how to use them.

“Our Plant-based Cream Alternative is incredibly versatile, providing variety for chefs and bakers to cater for their vegan customers. With the sweet rich flavour of double cream, it works well with any additional flavours or colours you want to add, including alcohol and fruit purees. You can pipe it. You can pour it. You can even whip it. Add it to cakes, patisserie and desserts or use it in an espuma gun to add an indulgent finish to hot drinks like a soya hot chocolate.”
