Putting mental health on the agenda - Macphie

Macphie has announced its charity partnership with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

The charity was chosen through a company-wide vote, with Macphie employees aiming to raise £25,000 over the next two years.

The company says it also wants to promote ways to improve general mental health and create a variety of opportunities to get involved with the charity.

Success

Chairman Alastair Macphie said, “Following our successful partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, which raised £10,000 over the course of the last year, we’re looking forward to working with a new charity.

“The passion of our people is one of our greatest strengths and I know they will put their full weight behind this ambitious campaign.

“One of the great things is that not only will we raise funds for SAMH but we can raise awareness both within the workforce and in the wider community.

“As an employee population, we support the charity’s aims of being there for people and promoting good mental health, which are as important as working to end stigma and discrimination.”

Opportunities

SAMH Director of External Affairs Jo Anderson said: “Partnering with Macphie offers fantastic opportunities for SAMH, thank you to the team for choosing mental health as their cause in 2018.

“As well as raising vital funds for our work supporting people experiencing mental health problems, a presence across the Macphie workplace will help to convey the SAMH message on mental health and wellbeing to the whole staff team.  A crucial ingredient in creating a mentally healthy workplace.

“We are excited about working together to make a valuable difference to people’s lives at the time when they most need support.”
