Village welcomes Macphie volunteers - Macphie

Some of the team swapped their whisks for wheelbarrows yesterday (28 July) in support of a community-owned garden in Drumlithie.

Our team of six volunteers spent the afternoon at the Drumlithie Millennium Gardens resurfacing pathways, litter picking, and clearing walkways as part of the company’s volunteering programme.

Headquartered in Glenbervie, Aberdeenshire, we’re just over a mile away from the public garden space, and the volunteering afternoon forms part of our ongoing commitment to the community. We’re a big team and we’re all encouraged to take at least two days paid leave every year to support a local charity or community group.

Chairman Alastair Macphie said: “We strive to be a good neighbour to the communities we employ from.

“As well as volunteering, we donate a percentage of our profits to charity and community projects every year. In Drumlithie, we’ve donated funds to the children’s Lego club and money to help turn an old park into a community orchard. Every year we provide high-vis vests for the annual fun run, we print the village newsletters every quarter and regularly donate cakes to the community cafe run by the primary school.”
