Technical Operative/Team Lead 

What does a Technical Operative do?

A Technical Operative has a great level of knowledge and understanding of the processes, procedures, and equipment within their production areas. They are confident in all system related tasks and can effectively teach other employees on how to do these tasks effectively. Technical Operatives know their equipment and machines to a level which allows them to identify minor faults. The successful candidates will work on a shift rotation. The weekly shift rotation is 6am-2:30pm, 2pm-10:30pm with some flexibility dependent on production requirements.

Key Roles & responsibilities

The main purpose of a Technical Operative is to assist in the manufacture of food products to the established standards of safety, output, quality and hygiene. The roles and responsibilities of this role include;

  • Work safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislation.
  • Deputising for Shift Leader when required.
  • Supervising production work during each shift to ensure its completion and quality
  • Carry out cleaning schedules in the production and packaging area ensuring a very high standard of hygiene / sanitation is achieved, in addition, placing emphasis on the Factory’s “clean as you go” policy, being always audit ready.
  • To carry out any reasonable duties as requested by Shift Leader
  • Optimising staffing levels to ensure maximum efficiencies.
  • Perform PPM’s on equipment when required.
  • Strive to attain best in class quality standards.
  • Liaise with engineering and planning to maximise overall equipment efficiency.
  • Aim to succeed and improve against departmental KPI’s.

Skills and experience

  • Food manufacturing experience of minimum of 1 year required.
  • Past experience working in high volume production environment.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player, able to motivate team and others.
  • Knowledge of health & safety standard and compliance
  • Results focused to ensure that all targets are met.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated and uses initiative.
  • Strong team player who adopts continuous improvement approach.
  • Promotes safe working practices.

*Hourly rate due to increase to £14.55 for the 1st of July 2024
