A group of daring Macphie employees took part in a 10km muddy obstacle race known as ‘The Beast,’ to raise money for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.
The action-packed race has been held annually since 2013 and Macphie has entered a team each year. This year, the group raised over £450 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, a registered charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information and support in the community.
The Macphie team included Louise Shankley, Keri Cummings, Catriona Harrow, Douglas Kidston, Jane Cargill, Zara McConnell, Nerijus Pekarskas, Gemma Welsh, John MacDougall, Shaun Powell, Ricky Constable, Nick Stewart, Gary Wylie, Daniel Thomson, Bartosz Gardas, Eduards Kapisnokovs, Valdas Jugaitis and Andrias Zvirblis.
Every year, Macphie donates a percentage of profit to a variety of charities and employees are encouraged to take part in fundraising events. As well as The Beast, employees have also recently taken part in Pedal for Scotland, a 45-mile cycle between Edinburgh and Glasgow and raised over £1000 for St. Andrew’s Hospice.
