Macphie is delighted to sponsor the Baking Industry Award’s new Sustainability Initiative of the Year category.
The awards, due to take place at the Royal Lancaster in London on Thursday 21 October 2021, celebrate the best the industry has to offer.
The Sustainability of the Year award is open to bakery businesses of any size, including wholesale and retail operations, manufacturers as well as their suppliers.
Judges will be looking at the goals of the initiative and the actions put in place to achieve them, including changes in operations, staff buy-in and training, how it was communicated to customers and partnerships that may have been created to achieve the end results.
Macphie’s CEO Andy Stapley said: “As a certified B Corp, we’re committed to supporting the people and places around us. In the last year, we’ve reduced our use of plastic by switching to plant-based packaging on one of our key lines and we’ve partnered with FareShare to help reduce food waste.
“We were delighted to see a sustainability-focused award added to the BIA line-up and sponsoring this category was a no brainer.
“Despite the pandemic, businesses are making remarkable progress towards key sustainability targets and this award gives the industry a chance to celebrate this as well as inspire change throughout the industry, keeping sustainability high on everyone’s agenda.”
