Cracking Easter Inspiration - Macphie

Easter, which falls on Sunday 31st March this year, is always a well celebrated day in the calendar, but this year it is expected to be bigger than ever, especially in the food industry.

The Easter holidays are an ideal time for bakeries, restaurants, cafes, bars, and pubs to introduce seasonal offerings, in order to take advantage of families getting together to eat.

It also marks the end of lent, so it is a time to come together and encourage customers to indulge in all of their favourite foods.

Brunch dishes are popular over Easter weekend – why not have an egg theme and add variations of eggs benedict to your menu, such as this smoked salmon eggs benedict, or even lobster eggs benedict.

Hot Cross Buns are an Easter favourite, and have been for a very long time. Every year we see new, unique hot cross bun variations, including cheese, bacon, and even ‘Hot Hot Hot Cross Buns’ which the Co-op have recently introduced.

Whether it is a classic hot cross bun, or a unique combination such as cheese and bacon, chorizo, or even chocolate orange flavoured, we’ve got several recipes on our website to help you out.

You can also expand the classic into different day parts. By creating a burger out of hot cross buns, you can add to brunch and lunch menus bringing what is considered a traditional bakery offering into restaurants, cafes, bars, and pubs.

Nostalgic tastes continue to be popular amongst consumers, and we see old favourites appearing around Easter and springtime, such as lemon. Its fresh kick is very representative of spring, and it can be added to many different recipes, creating not only a fresh taste but also adding a visual nod to springtime.

Our 5th Avenue® Sicilian Lemon Icing can transform your bakes into Easter themed treats – try it by adding on top of doughnuts. Alternatively, use our new Lemon Crème Cake Mix to create either cupcakes, loafcakes, traybakes or puddings (or them all if you wish!).

Whilst it is important to introduce seasonal flavours to traditional foods, it is also key to stand out from the crowd by creating eye-catching Easter related treats throughout the holiday too.

Why not make this Easter celebration cake, which looks and tastes amazing, and is an ideal treat to share with family and friends.
